So I've been taking a weekly class on private investigation. Tonight we had a guest lecturer. She was a... drumroll, please... psychic detective. Er, ah, first I guess I should mention why I'm taking this class. The protagonist in my next novel is going to be a P.I. All right, back to the psychic. She would interrupt her talk with readings. I kept thinking, Please don't read me, what if I'm giving off freaky vibes and she reads me and screams as she points to me and calls me evil spawn and people start screaming and they all run out the room! Well, she got to me eventually. But apparently life is on the upswing. And I'm not evil spawn. Thank God. Next week we'll have more guest lecturers: a forensics specialist, and three P.I.'s all with different backgrounds and specialties. Is it too much to hope one of them is from Hawaii, drives a red Ferrari, and wears short shorts? *sigh* Probably.

Revisions have been moving along slowly on the novel. I've been trying to revise some short stories and get them circulating. In fact, one went out the door today. I've also been trying to write new short stories.

Oh, I would have had way too much messing with the psychic detective, probably along the lines of hiding under the desk, clutching my hair, and screaming, "Get out of my brain!"

Er, way too much fun that should be.

I thought you were making a Mad Libs fill-in-the-blank for me.

It's the next step up from being a librarian

And, librarians don't usually get to carry weapons. Legally. Although I guess those reference books could be used as weapons. Some of those things are heavy enough to crush skulls.

Ooh, I want to take that class, psychic detective and all. I have a character who's a pet psychic but she would probably love to do detective work too (and be inept at it.)

How did you find the PI class? I'm going to have to google for something in my area. If nothing else, the instructor is probably a great source for all sorts of questions.

It's a continuing education class through the local university. And, the instructor has been a great source. She was the first female P.I. in New Mexico, so she's been around for a while.

That sounds like an awesome class! Do PIs ever have to sneak through somebody's garbage?

Next time you see the psychic you should grab your head and say "Ouch. I think our frequencies are crossed."

Have you ever seen Psych? It's on USA. I couldn't stop thinking about the two lead characters the entire time the psychic investigator was talking.
