Rejectomancy

I haven't received any rejections recently. I feel like they're all hiding around the corner like the bullies they are, waiting for me to innocently stroll past, whistling a jaunty little tune, so they can jump me all at once and leave me with a couple of black eyes. Bastards.

I hadn't heard from one market in a long time. Way past their usual response time. So I sent a query. And then I started looking at all the other markets my stories are with and the average response time on Duotrope. And then I realized how pitiful that was and came over here.

On a productive note, I revised a short story today. I will hand it off to a couple of second readers tomorrow, make some final adjustments based on their input, then figure out where to send it.

I am also stalling the inevitable...cleaning the backyard of doggie poo.

Okay, come on me, post this, get out of the chair, grab the bags and gloves and go. On three. One. Two. Three. Come on! Up and at 'em! Let's go!

Heh. :)

I'm just being a grump. I've checked Duotrope and Black Hole and I still gotsa ways to go before it's querying time.

They are bastards. And I bet they don't stop at beating up writers. When they're done pummeling you, those rejections probably go out and trip little old ladies.

And yes, Duotrope makes it far too easy to obsess over response times. *sigh*

Me three on the duotrope obsessing.

Sometimes it gets absolutely sick the amount of time I spend trolling about to guestimate how well my story is doing... HA! As if one can tell from the response time.

Yeah, I've been waiting on some rejections for a while now, too. I hope all our rejections don't join up and form a gang. That could get pretty dangerous....

Good luck with the -- *uck* *shiver* -- doggy poo.

Oh, a gang. What would their sign be? Probably just the middle finger raised in lone salute.
